Dai Yi

Dai Yi, male, was born in Changshu city Jiangsu Province in 1926 and graduated from the Department of History, Peking University. He is now the honorary director of the Institute of Qing History at Renmin University of China and tutoring PhD programs. He had been the forth and the fifth chairman of China Society of History, the deputy to the 7th National People's Congress, and head of the history subcommittee of Commenting Committee of Academic Branches under the State Council. He is also the director of the National Committee for The Compilation of Qing History, curator of Beijing Research Library of Cultural Relics and History, and vice-chairman of China Society of Yanhuang Culture.
He publishes and edits over 30 books, among which the most important include: Drafts of Chinese Modern History; Sino-Russian Nerchinsk Treaty of 1689; A Brief History of Qing Dynasties; Biographies of Qing Figures (Volume 2); Qing Dynasty, Grand Dictionary Chinese History, Volume 1; Qing History, Chinese History, Encyclopedia Sinica; Emperor Qianlong and His Times; China and World in the 18th Century, Encyclopedia of Qing Dynasty; Walking over Frosty Ground, Collection of Dews, and Whispers of Ice.
He is now in charge of the compilation project of History of the Qing Dynasty, a key national academic and cultural project.
